Iranian doc ‘Khatemeh’ is to compete at the Florence Film Awards in Italy.

Iranian documentary ‘Khatemeh’ has been scheduled to compete at the Florence Film Awards in Italy.

Directed by Hadi and Mehdi Zarei, the film is accepted into the screening program of the Italian event.

The documentary tells the story of an Afghan girl who escapes from home in order to avoid an early marriage and domestic violence.

It won the awards for Best Director for Full-length Documentary and Best Editing at the 12th edition of the Cinema Vérité, Iran International Documentary Film Festival.

The Florence Film Awards is an IMDb qualifier monthly international film festival in Italy. It honors the best films in various categories through private screenings.

A selection of short films gets screened every month in Florence at Scuola di Cinema Immagina (Immagina Film School).

Another Iranian title, ‘It Rains for You’, a short film directed by Mohammad-Mehdi Delkhasteh will also take part at this edition of the Florence Film Awards.

The 2019 edition of the Florence Film Awards is slated to kick off on October 4.
